Wind Catcher

interactive performance

Reminiscent of when a circus comes to a small town; it all started with a drive around the village, using a megaphone to announce the gathering at 5pm on the top of a hill. The artist aimed to achieve a change in the routine of the villagers and at the same time provoke their curiosity and commitment to the event. Fifty parachute like objects of bright coloured satin were displayed on the top of the hill attached to this tent like structure, again exploring the “circus in town” memory. In ones and in pairs, people wore these parachutes. The blowing wind inflated the objects; the bright colours brought a sparkle to the landscape. The interaction of the participants together and with the cloth created the opportunity for conversation, exchange and a shared experience while colouring the monochromatic landscape.
