Doors

paint, spray and found doors

My artwork in this workshop revolves around doors; walking around Shatana, I was inspired by their tired and worn out look. The doors symbolize the culture and the lives of the people that have gone through them. They are also a symbol of the doors in our lives that we open and others that we close. They are the transformation in our lives, who we are and where we are heading with life's uncertainties, challenges and fun. They are a statement that we exist. These doors were part of the landscape of the church, I wanted to have fun with color; I painted them with sheep motifs and caricature faces. I used bright colors that I've noticed were not present here in Shatana.
