Empty Talk

Text is regarded highly in the Semite cultures, particularly by the Arabs. The Arabs created Souk Ukaz, the first market for language. The text, the essence of their material and spiritual values illustrated in poetry and the Quran, shrouded their most sacred entity, the Kaaba. The vocabulary used in reference to poetry illustrates that the Arabs made text their home: bait (verse), amoud (column) and diwan (anthology of poems). Today, during the era of Arab fall and cultural halt, the oppressive discourse hovers in slogans spread throughout our public space, repressing in their vulgar shape and ridiculous content, our vision both intellectually and actually. The concept of this work took the cube form created from a collection of slogans with cut out text, illustrating the popular saying "empty talk."
