Projects

Makan aims at taking art out to the street and right into the heart of the community. Art and artists, through projects with various social groups, particularly children and women will be appreciated and normalized. Art could become a spontaneous means of expression, a tool for communication and interaction.

Makan has been organizing art workshops in various locations in Amman and other cities and towns with local communities. These workshops invite children to work with artists. Their interaction with the children and women allows these groups to meet and relate to local artists and to recognize art as a profession. Such workshops, introduce diverse genres of art and techniques using available material in an atmosphere of play.

Makan has organized some training workshops for artists to become trainers themselves. Furthermore, Makan has been involving artists to conduct workshops such as drawing, sculpture, painting, animation and more. These artists move along with the events and are introduced to the different societies. By utilizing their talent and skill on unfamiliar levels and in new spaces these artists are challenged and further inspired which is projected on their work. it is a chance for artists to different perspectives; they will realize alternative ways to handle their art.
