Makan Residency Program

The Program

The residency program at Makan aims to encourage artistic exchange for international artists interested to live and work within the city and community of Amman - Jordan. The program offers the artist accommodation and a working space for artists in the fields of the visual arts, performance, writing and music. The program offers an opportunity to exhibit/perform at Makan if needed/agreed upon.

The space

The space consists of a bedroom, working studio, kitchenette and bathroom. The studio is located within walking distance from Makan’s mail building as well as the city center. It is also within the vicinity of the major art galleries, theaters and culture centers of the city. The residency will surely provide the opportunity for exchange between local and visiting artists.

Expenses

Based on mutual agreement and depending on the nature of the residency, Makan may offer to cover accommodation and make contribution towards traveling expenses. Artists need to pay for material and their local expenses.

Duration

The duration of the residency program is based on an agreement between the applicant and the management at Makan.

Applications

Applications are accepted all year round and dates will be considered according to availability. The program is open to artists of all nationalities aged 23 – 36 years old. The space can hold up to 4 persons at one time. Internet facilities are available within Makan’s building.
